War Machine

Heavy hooves crush earth and stone
As the Horsemen make their ride
To bring the name of god to all who must succumb
Resistance breaks like will and bone
To spread the word sent from a high
You will bow to him, or die beneath my thumb
Throughout history and time
He’s been watching all along
The conductor in an orchestra of death
Beware the War Machine, he rides
All lost in his wake will die
Feel the pain brought through the fire and the flames
He knows no race, no color, creed
His lust is fueled by other’s greed
To him, your lives are all a part of his twisted game
Heavy wheels batter the streets
Hunting the cities for a ghost
It’s hard to win a war against an ideal
Stay and fight this thing; you will
Until the Powers get their fill
In this land where money floods the fields
Throughout history and time
He’s been watching all along
The conductor in an orchestra of death
Beware the War Machine, he rides
All lost in his wake will die
Feel the pain brought through the fire and the flames
He knows no race, no color, creed
His lust is fueled by other’s greed
To him, your lives are all a part of his twisted game
Heavy warheads scorch the skies
Cut a path to your front door
Delivered from an enemy half a world away
You never see your killer’s face
Truth be told; he’s been replaced
By circuitry and wiring deep in a concrete bay
Throughout history and time
He’s been watching all along
The conductor in an orchestra of death
Beware the War Machine, he rides
All lost in his wake will die
Feel the pain brought through the fire and the flames
He knows no race, no color, creed
His lust is fueled by other’s greed
To him, your lives are all a part of his twisted game
I wrote this around some guitar tracks I recorded. More of a setup for some drum work on my part, the guitars weren’t quite as “good” as I would have liked for the lyrics to play out to. So, I sent the basic tracks to my collaborator and cowriter in the hopes he could rescue the idea..
Still a work in progress!

Back Someday

She stands in the doorway watching him go
With bags in hand, out through the snow
He’s leaving home again,
For how long she won’t know
She stands there stiff and still;
He sees her face flush red from a long night of tears
When will she see him again?
I’ll still watch over you, When I’m gone
From under the same stars in the sky
As long as you look to the night, you’ll feel my love from a million miles away
I promise I’ll be back someday
The months have passed since he she saw him last
She lies in bed; she cannot rest
Out through the window she stares
into her dreams and hopes
The night sky comforts her;
Serenity breaks through and conquers her fears
She knows she’ll see him again
I’ll still watch over you, When I’m gone
From under the same stars in the sky
As long as you look to the night, you’ll feel my love from a million miles away
I promise I’ll be back someday
Another piece written to accompany an older bit of music that needed “a different take” on the vocals.
I wrote these without hearing the original vocals, and I can say, it was VERY different.
This song was also recorded; albiet quite hastily…

I Didn't Warn You

Anger…
I feel the hate you hold inside
You bastard…
Why can’t you swallow your pride
Throughout the days and nights of your life
You deny just what you are
You think you live above the rest of the world
It’s gonna hurt to fall that far
One look in your eyes; I can see that you’re scared
Been waiting for this; I know you’re not prepared
So when the walls come down to crush your small world
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
Vampire…
You suck the life from all you know
Hell fire…
It burns from deep inside your soul
The time will come when you will need someone
Who’s gonna save you from yourself?
Your personal hell is a cage that you built
And the key’s outside your cell
One look in your eyes; I can see that you’re scared
Been waiting for this; I know you’re not prepared
So when the walls come down to crush your small world
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
One look in your eyes; I can see that you’re scared
Been waiting for this; I know you’re not prepared
So when the walls come down to crush your small world
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
Don’t say I didn’t warn you
Lyrics for a song actually written and recorded by my friend and I..
He wrote some inspiring guitar licks, and this was written in response!
